BMW confirms a Hybrid version of the 5-Series and a new 3 cylinder engine turbo engine for the 1-Series



The rumors about the BMW Company’s future plans have been circulating for the past few months, the German Company has now disclosed the plans formally at a press conference in Munich. News is that the company will be launching the China market 5-Series at the Shanghai Auto Show next month.
Company executives stated that this car will be the presentation of their energy efficient vehicle, the company claims that it will be their first model made by and for China. This version car will be a long version of the BMW 5-Series which is a plug in hybrid, it will carry the reputation and tag name of the BMW brand.

Officials also confirmed launch of few other vehicles along with the car, cars that will be available at 2011 are
  • New BMW 6-Series convertible and coupe
  • BMW 1-Series M coupe
  • BMW M5
  • MINI coupe
  • Second generation of BMW 1 Series
The BMW Company has also revealed plans to add to its range a model that sports a three cylinder turbocharged engine, though no further details have been revealed about this. The officials have disclosed that they are gradually using the BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology in all its petrol and diesel powered engines that are equipped with the BMW EfficientDynamics motor range.
This announcement holds true for the 4 and 6 cylinder engines and also for the upcoming 3 cylinder one. This system will be more economical and also facilitate the standardization of interfaces. The company has also disclosed the fact that it be assembling the X3 model in India along with 3-Series, 5-Series and X1 for local markets towards the second quarter of 2011. The China plant will begin production from 2012 with the X1 and a crossover as its first models.
