I Kid You Not: Consumer Reports Says Chrysler 300C is “Excellent”

The redesigned 2011 Chrysler 300C has scored an impressive 80 -- an “Excellent” rating -- in the road test portion of Consumer Reports’ latest assessment of upscale sedans.

David Champion, senior director of Consumer Reports' Auto Test Center, lauds the 300C as having a “quick, muscular 5.7-liter V8 engine… responsive handling and a more comfortable ride."
Though only ranking near the middle of the pack, the 300’s score is a huge leap from the pitiable 64 given to the previous model. The car impressed the editors and engineers at Consumer Reports so much that they hailed it as "the best Chrysler sedan we've seen in decades."

The magazine goes on to say that the Chrysler 300C ($44,730 MSRP as tested) combined a 363-hp, 5.7-liter V8 engine with a “smooth” five-speed automatic transmission, “Very Good” braking and a “plush and well-finished” interior. The ride, says Consumer Reports, is “steady and compliant” and “composed” on the highway.

The full report is available today on Consumer Reports (sub.req.), and will appear in CR’s November print edition on newsstands October 4.
