Chevrolet Malibu Rolls Off the Assembly Line in Korea

South Korea may not be the most important market for the 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, but it is the first country to receive GM's new global mid-size sedan. And today, the very first series production 2012 Malibu rolled off the assembly line at General Motors' Bupyeong plant in Incheon.

Speaking to the factory's employees during the celebrative event, GM Korea President and CEO Mike Arcamone said:
“The new Malibu is our most important product introduction of the year. It will play a significant role in enabling us to attain our goals in the domestic market while ensuring that GM Korea becomes an important part of Chevrolet’s success in its second century.”
Local sales of the brand-new Malibu will start in the beginning of next month with buyers having a choice of two four-cylinder petrol engines, a base 2.0-liter with 141-horses and a 2.4-liter unit producing 178-horsepower.
North American and European sales of the 2012 Malibu will begin in spring next year.
