GM to Launch New CNG Bi-Fuel Pickup Truck in Late 2012

eneral Motors will soon increase its commercial offerings of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) models with the addition of a new bi-fuel pickup truck that is scheduled for launch early in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Currently, the Detroit-based automaker offers the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana cargo vans modified to run on CNG. GM did not reveal which pickup model will receive the bi-fuel treatment but said that it believes that it will help satisfy a broader range of needs for commercial customers.
“Customers want a choice when it comes to fuel because it helps them manage their business costs,” said Brian Small, general manager, GM Fleet and Commercial Operations. “We listened and we are going to move fast to bring a bi-fuel CNG product to market to meet our customer’s needs.”
The automaker said that the bi-fuel commercial pickup trucks will be covered by its three-year, 36,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty and five-year, 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty and vehicle emissions warranty.
